About this experience

Want to understand this land from a local Aboriginal perspective?

Will you be part of sharing and passing on ancient knowledge?

Walk on Country, yarning with local mob. Learn our traditional lifestyle, local history, speak Yuin (Dhurga) language and identify culturally significant plants used for food, medicine and survival.

After meeting in a native forest of Narrawallee you will be greeted with a traditional song in local language. Before your journey begins your local Aboriginal guides will share some yarns about traditional lifestyle and how to tap into your senses to get the most out of your time on Country. "Reading" Country is a deep full body experience we wish to share with everyone who walks with us.

You will set off along a flat, smooth track through the forest and your guides will stop frequently at different plants, birds and animals. Your guides will explain the cultural significance of what you see and their traditional uses, many of which are still practiced today. Halfway through the walk you will stop at the riverbank of Narrawallee Creek for a light bushfood morning tea and some fresh native medicinal tea while your guide shares a traditional dreaming story about Balgan (Pigeon House Mountain).
